Meeting your Horse

Aside from dog-sledding, horse-riding is the only sport that is practised with a living being that is not human.
Rider and horse form a team in which each party depends on the other.
Therefore, whichever type of horse-riding you choose, it is essential to establish a real relationship with your horse, so that both members of the team can communicate with each other.
As well as offering you the chance to ride, we give you the opportunity to meet and get to know the horse that will become your teammate for the trek.

Before We Leave : Preparing the Horses

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider, you will be brought into the heart of the herd to pick out and meet your horse.

The next stage is the preparation. We guide you step-by-step in fitting all the equipment necessary for you and your horse.
This is your chance to learn more about horses in general and especially to get to know the horse that will share the ride with you. Each rider will brush and saddle their horse so that horse and rider can begin their story and learn how to trust one another.

Why is it important to get to know your horse ?

Just like us, each horse has its own character and personality. Taking the time to get to know them before saddling up, by touching them and observing them, will allow you to better understand and communicate with them, in exactly the same way as they do amongst themselves.

Much more than a simple “mount”, your horse becomes your partner in visiting a part of the Pays du Verdon.

After the Ride : Bringing the Horses back into the Herd

After your ride, you will be helped in unsaddling your horse. This moment is an opportunity to thank your horse for having carried you on your discovery of the Verdon. Then comes the time to bring your horse back into the herd...
